Dr. Eric Michael, Founding Partner
Dr Eric Michael brings a wealth of experience from both the private and non-profit legal sectors. He graduated magna cum laude from UCLA with a B.A. in History. Upon completing law school in 2010, he began his career as in-house counsel for a prominent national insurance company where he honed his skills navigating complex legal frameworks as a fierce personal injury and workers’ compensation lawyer. He then earned a master’s in public administration, gaining expertise in the intricacies of government agencies including the Social Security Administration.
Driven by his passion for public service and social justice, Dr. Michael joined a non-profit legal service provider in southern California where he had the privilege of directing the firm’s Social Security disability practice. He led a dedicated team advocating for those confronting the daunting SSI/SSDI disability appeal process. Dr. Michael ensured Orange and Los Angeles County residents had the representation they deserved and transformed lives by securing their critical benefits.
In addition to his legal expertise, Dr. Michael earned his doctorate studying the college experience for students affected by stigma. This deepened his understanding of the profound impact negative stereotypes can have on one’s access to essential resources. This knowledge informs SoCal Disability Law Group’s legal practice as we are acutely aware of the additional hurdles and prejudices faced by those seeking SSI/SSDI benefits or compensation for pain and suffering.
